When Mr. Miele decided it was time to move up, the decision was simple. Build a vessel that offers the ride, fish-ability and fuel efficiency of the CANYON RUNNER with his own personalized touches. Mr. Miele added innovative storage solutions, a new bridge layout, a revised stateroom layout, water maker, ice maker as well as teak toe rail and pulpit to make it his own. The BLUE RUNNER had a very successful first season, spending the summer months chasing tuna and swords from its home base of Brielle, NJ and the winter months exploring the Bahamas from its base of Stuart, Fl.

With a crew that has many years on the water and a very knowledgeable owner, their choice was simple . build a Carolina boat. That's where the simple choices ended. After much due diligence, the CANYON RUNNER team finally took a ride on one of our vessels and they unanimously decided to start construction on a Ritchie Howell Yachts 60 immediately. Their build moved along at a record pace due to knowing what they wanted and very timely decision making when questions arose. 12 months after laying the jig for their build , they were on the way home with the first of the new generation Ritchie Howells. This is no ordinary charter boat, as evidenced by the granite counter tops, plush interior fabrics and gyro stabilizer system. When this Ocean City, MD based team decided it was time to move up, they quickly looked to Ritchie Howell Custom Yachts to build their dream boat. You see, our boats the MARLI and PRESSTIME were amongst the top boats in the Ocean City fleet year after year, and were proven to raise fish and as great sea boats. This father and son team decided an express would fit their fishing style, but they wanted a mezzanine layout. We turned to our naval architect, Matthews Yacht Design, to design a boat that would fit their needs. We took our proven 40 express design and lengthened it to accommodate the mezzanine, while maintaining a sizable cockpit. Given this team is primarily focused on day trips, they needed a boat that would get them to and from the fishing grounds fast. We choose the CAT C12 engine package and it has performed beyond our expectations, easily pushing this boat to a 32 knot cruise and 38 knot top end speed. The large helm deck area and mezzanine provide plenty of seating and the forward helm location provides incredible visibility when running or fishing. Overall, we can confidently say the performance and layout of this mid sized Express is nothing short of amazing.
