While there has been a trend toward the larger convertibles in recent years, few can argue the benefits of a beautifully outfitted express boat. The latest from Ritchie Howell fits that description perfectly: the 56 Express called Remy M. Built for owner Joe Grato, the boat has all the comforts of a cruiser in a rugged, easy to fish express layout. “We take great pride in our express boats,” Howell says. “They perform extremely well and have the lines and sleek looks that grab everyone’s attention. They are also very friendly boats when the weather turns bad.” Howell reports that the 56 also has many upgraded features including a Seakeeper gyro-stabilizer and the CAT 360 system, which offers joystick control for docking and one button GPS skyhook anchoring capability with conventional shafts and a hydraulic bow thruster. “We have built several pod-drive boats and this CAT 360 product is at least every bit as smooth, if not more so,” Howell reports. “It’s amazing how accurate and smooth this system is. It’s also backed by outstanding service from Caterpillar.” The layout features two staterooms and two heads, with the master forward and stack bunks to starboard. There’s also an elegantly appointed salon/galley for entertaining and a cockpit that’s well laid out for either fishing or cruising. The CAT C-18As produce a cruising speed of 33 knots while burning 72 gallons per hour, and she hustles along at 40 knots on the pins. A Pipewelders tower, Simrad electronics and Release Marine helm chairs are just a few of the options.
